There's Nothing Wrong With the Unsaved!

...that prayer can't handle.

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

This morning I woke up with my spirit heavy concerning the salvation of a loved one. All my days over the last 8 years has begun with intercession for them, but today my heart was exceptionally heavy. I lay in my bed crying out to God, my pillow heavy by the weight of my tears. It’s been so long I have pleaded with God for their salvation. Why has God not heard my prayers, why has he ignored my cries, my tears?

I got up from the bed, and opened my bible, and turned on my computer hoping maybe God would speak to me concerning my loved one, maybe I would get the break through that I desired and my loved one would come to God. But after reading every scripture I could find on the subject, and visiting a number of different websites God did not speak to me. However, I found something that seems to be consistent throughout every website I visited, and I would like to share this with you.

There is nothing wrong with them; To the believer, anyone that does not accept the free gift of salvation, over God’s wrath and eternal damnation must have something wrong with them. We sometimes think that either they seriously stupid, or they are seriously evil, or some other issues has cause them to deny what makes perfectly good sense to us.  We postulate that something in them is broken and that is the reason they we are unable come to Christ. But Scripture tells us that the problem is not them at all.

the God of this world (Satan) has blinded the minds of the unbeliever to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:4)

Therefore when we come to the knowledge that there is nothing wrong with our loved one, but the Devil is blocking them, spiritual covering the eyes of their mind, keeping them from seeing the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our prayers must first be against the devil. The Bible asks;

“how can someone enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Then indeed he may plunder his house” (Matthew 12:29)

So the first thing we must do is get Satan out of the life of our loved one. I don’t believe in the binding prayer, (There are some theological reasons for this.)  I think many pastors have taken it (Binding and loosening) out of context and perverted the message of God. However I do believe that God is able to bind. So this is the prayer which I think is best. Please note that each of these prayers should be prayed at least once a day. I try to pray them on the order they are written and also with at least an hour between prayer.

Heavenly Father,
The god of this world (Satan) has blinded the eyes of (name inserted) of the truth of the Gospel. But You Lord can establish (name inserted) and guard (name inserted) against the evil one.  Father your word says whom the Son set free is free indeed so I pray that You will break the chains of bondage that the evil one has on (name inserted) and set (him/her/them) free to the truth beauty and goodness of Your son Christ Jesus
In Jesus’ name Amen

Unlike many other prayers this cannot be prayed too much. The problem with praying for the release from the bondage of the devil for a non-believer is that once we have prayed for them. That individual will re-inviting Satan back into their life again.  So that First God remove the chains of bondage (above prayer) and give them the discernment to and know of Christ so that the gospel will renew their mind.  Once the gospel work in the renewing of the mind they will come to the knowledge of Christ and no longer willingly invite Satan back into their life.

Pray that God draws them to Himself. Jesus said, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him” (John 6:44). Salvation is the work of God, not man. No one can come to Christ unless the Holy Spirit first draws him or her. This is because our nature is to do evil and none of us desire God. (Romans 3:11) Therefore, we need to pray that God initiates regeneration in the life of our lost loved one, by drawing them to Himself.   I choose John 6:44 and Ephesians 1:17  as the foundation of this following prayer

Heavenly Father,
Your word says no one can come to know Jesus unless You draws them. So then I come to You in supplication on behalf or (insert name) asking that you will draw them to You, Father Open their eyes to know You, Open (insert name) eyes to understand the scriptures and cause (insert name)  to thirst and hunger after your righteousness.
In Jesus’ Name I pray.

Or I also pray this following prayer as I know salvation is 100% the supernatural work of God.  From Ezekiel 36:25-28

Heavenly Father,
Your word says no one can come to know Jesus unless You draws them. So then I come to You in supplication on behalf or (insert name) Asking that You will saved (insert name) from the bondage of sin. Sprinkle (him/her/them) with Your water and clean (him/her/them) from all uncleanness. Give (insert name) a new heart and a new spirit, remove (his/her) heart of stone and give (Insert name) a heart of flesh. Put Your Spirit in (him/her/them) and cause (him/her) to walk in Your statutes.

All this I pray in Jesus’ name Amen

Pray to the Lord of the Harvest to bring laborers; One of the most difficult things about wanting to see your loved one saved is the fact that more often than not, you are the last person they will every listen to. They say things like “You think you are better than me, but I remember when you used to” (fill in the black) whatever you have been delivered from. Often they are unable to distinguish your current walk with Christ with your past walk in the world.  And no matter how much you try to explain the gospel they never hear anything but your, not God’s condemnation of their sinful life.
So what do you do when the one you love the most, is the very one you are the least likely to every reach? The Bible says we are to pray to the Lord of the Harvest. Jesus tells his disciples that the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. Therefore we should pray “earnestly”, to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers. (Matt. 9:37-38). We should pray that God send a voice that is able to reach your loved one with the Gospel in a way you are not.

  How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?] And how are they to hear without someone preaching?  And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?”  So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. (Romans 10:14:17)

Father;
Your word says that Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God, but if (insert name) will not hear me how will (he/she) ever believe in whom (he/she) has not heard? How will (he/she) ever know Christ Jesus if I have failed to preach the gospel?
Father I know it is Your will that all should come to know salvation through Faith in Jesus Christ. So I am asking that You send laborers, to preach the gospel to (insert name). Send someone that can reach (him/her) where I cannot, or have failed to. Do not allow my relationship, or past with (insert name) be the stumbling block for his/her salvation.
In Jesus’ Name amen

The last thing we must do is; Treat them as if you have had your prayers answer already Once you’ve prayed for your loved one like that, from then on, put your faith in action by treating your loved one like he’s/she’s saved. I got this form another website( though I’m not sure where) Speak like a Christian with them, Say things like Praise God, God is Good , let your lips be a testimony of God’s goodness. One thing I always do is to call both saved and unsaved men “Man of God.” My intent is to strengthen then that are saved, and encourage them that have not yet received the gift of salvation.
