Who / What Can Seperate Us From the Love of Jesus?

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ( Romans 8:35-39)

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the Attacks on America September 11, 2001. Anyone that is old enough to remember the event can in an instance tell you exactly where they were, and what they was doing that morning when the Twin Towers fell.

I can remember watching the first tower fall in the lobby of the office building. In complete disbelief, I kept hoping that somehow, someone would say “sike” or I would wake up form this nightmare or something. But that never came. I walked up the 7 flights of stairs to clear my mind, only to be met with hundreds of people in the receptionist area a complete state of panic.

Everyone that had a friend, family member, or loved on working at or near the World Trade building were on their cell phone trying to find out their status. Some would later find they lost a loved one, other were relieved to find that God had protected their family member, but the harsh reality of terrorism had finally struck home for many Americans.

Fast ForwardMay 2, 2011 Osama Bin Laden, founder of “Al Qaeda” the jihadist organization responsible for the September 11 attacks on the United States was killed in Abbottabad Pakistan in a covert operation ordered by President Barrack Obama. However his death did not ease the pain of the lost of nearly 3 thousand American lives in the attack.

10 years later, the internet is still full of many hate mongers and atheist questioning “Where  was God when this all happened” This event has been for many unregenerate an excuse to question the validity of God. “How could God let so many innocent people die?  When we understand the enemy we realize that the attack of September 11th 2001 was just a diversion, a platform to from which the enemy seeks to attack our faith. The real attack is still being done by those that seek to put questions about God in the head of the saints; the real attack is to deny the truth of our Christology.

So for those of us that have contended, and have not lost the faith, when we acknowledge the 10th anniversary of 911, remember just as it was most important to carry ourselves as Christians when Osama Bin Laden was killed. We must carry ourselves in such a that the event glorifies God. That we never turn from the faith; that we never take on words of anger or, hurt; that we do not let the remembrance of 911 be greater than the hope that we have in Christ.  We can never get so caught up in the circumstances thereby allowing ourselves to be separated from the love of God.

Soli Deo Gloria
