Answer Not a Fool

Answer not a fool according to his folly,
lest thou also be like unto him.
Proverbs 26:4

When Donald Trump mistakenly got into a name-calling contest with Rosie O'Donnell, it gave her a fallacious elevated estimation of her debating abilities (or lack thereof), deluding her into a false sense of importance and wisdom and bringing Donald Trump down to the gutter with her.

( Please note I am not endorsing or opposing President Donald Trump; This Blog was written before anyone else knew he considered the presidency)

For my young Christian brothers/sisters be not deceived this is a tool the enemy uses to turn you away from God, to cause you to doubt God, and to cause you to fail to walk as a Christian. The devil sends his minions to fill your head with doubt, through science, and intellect, and to cause you to get angry and become loud and enraged and act like the person you were before you came to Christ. His desire is to use your sin against you when he accuses you in the face of God ( ) The Accuse wants to show you before God as being unsaved.

But Proverb 26:4  says Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him

Before we go any further lets define what the bible means when it says fool.  Here are two verses we can use to see what King Solomon and His father David is trying to teach us. Proverbs 1:7 says “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” While ; Psalm 14:1 says “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.”

From these two biblical verses we can deduce that a fool is someone that despises instruction and wisdom, someone that has no fear of God, because he says in his/her own heart there is no God.  Now God has not resorted to name calling and as Christians we should never resort to name calling either. So no matter how clear you are that this person is foolish in action please never call someone a fool!

This passage from proverbs gives us a very sound strategy to defend our faith as the Apostle Peter requires of us (1 Peter 3:15) against non-Christians, atheist, and even those that profess to be Christian yet still have error in their Christian worldview. And to those of us that are not yet mature enough to defend our faith this passage give us instruction how to deal with those that seek to question our faith.

To put into 2011 terminology Proverbs 26:4  tells us that we must never accept the unbeliever’s starting point (reason for debate or conflict) as being correct or else we too will end up just like him, holding a worldview in which knowledge doesn’t make sense (see Proverbs 1:7 above). Consider other verses in the bible concerning foolish questions or dealing with those that are foolish of hateful concerning our faith

2 Timothy 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes

Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

It is for this wise that I write this blog. Rev Harold Camping has predicted that the world would end on May 21 2001; This is the same man that mistakenly predicted that the world would end in 1994 but we are all still here.  However, with his deep pockets this 89 year old owner of Family Radio Network © is able to buy enough advertisement space, and put billboard on the highways and byways to make his predictions at least noticeable to the general population.

Though I don’t agree with Mr. Camping on this particular issue, and I have never heard his message preached, I could not tell you if he is sincere in his warning or if this is a publicity stunt. The one thing I do know for sure is that his bold predictions open up the door for the enemy and accuser to walk right into the hearts of the young immature Christians to be led astray.

If you would do a Google search on “world coming to an end” you would get a return of   519,000,000 result however if you searched for “repentance” you would only get 9,270,000 results  that’s 56 times as many hits.  In fact the name of “Jesus” does not even invoke as many hits 401, 000, 00 results.

There are hundreds of sites being created each day by unbeliever with the intent to drive you away from your faith, to defile the name of God and to show you how to become like them wise in their own mind and an abomination in their wise works.

As Watchman I say to you only the most mature apologetically and theologically sound Christians should go to these sites, or any which defiles the name of God. On Facebook there are I am guessing around 70 pages with the word Apocalypse in the name, and the themes of the pages range everywhere from Christian learning pages, to sex, drugs, rock and roll and anti-Christ propaganda.

I not saying that Christian should not be part of social networking but we should have no part of these sites in anyway, our name should not be associated with them, neither should we be added as friends of these sites.  True Christians carry with them the Name of Christ, and we are not Quacks,  Looney tunes,  crazies, or misguided. We are sons and daughters of the almighty God and we hold the teaching of the Bible as the foundation for all our beliefs, as inspired of God.

No amount of curiosity is worth the cost of our salvation. Remember Proverbs 26:4 we must not answer them according to their folly, not on their terms, not at their site, not with their presupposed argument, and never letting them put their wicked thought into our minds through ungodly conversation, lest we be just like them.

Consider this; you wouldn’t go to a striptease bar just because some stripper says she can prophesies on your life while she is butt naked gyrating in the lap of a 60 year old drunk man.  You might be curious about her claim but your knowledge of the word of God would keep you from the sin that is there. In the same way, we cannot be so curious about end of world predictions that we don’t allow the knowledge of Yahweh’s word keep us from the sin that we would commit.

In defense for those that are new in the faith I give you this passage to think on whenever there is some outlandish proclamation or prediction concerning God or His word, first go to an elder, a pastor a leader in your church and address this with him/her seek God with reading your scripture prayer and meditation on His word. If all of this fail to get you an answer then do as Paul says;
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.[not the things of this world] Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
