You Must Contend for the Faith

Image
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.   For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. ( Jude 1:3-4) Not twenty years after the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, while there were still people alive that had seen Him and spoken with Him, some had even eaten with Him, false teachers were already forming within the local bodies denying the resurrection and the deity of Jesus Christ. Just as the Apostle Peter had to deal with false teachers in his second epistle ( 2Peter 2:1-3 ), Jude who identifies himself as the brother of James was   inspired to write to a church in an unknown location not concerning salvation...

A Christian view of Gays

Image
I was reading a post by a John Stone the author of “ Why the Christian view of Gays does Not work” , and just like so many others who seek to manipulate the foundation of Christianity. I see Mr. Stone for what he is; a homosexual seeking to impose his view on all Christianity. But unlike the atheists I respond to, Mr Stone does not hate God, he only wants God to repent from His word and accept homosexual  so that he can both love God and make love to his brother. Now I will probably hold Mr. Stone in higher regard then the others only in that he seeks God in his own mind, it just he has not allowed scripture and Holy Spirit to have their way with him. It is very clear what the bible says about men having sex with other men, ( Lev 18:22, 20:13 ,) while the New Testament includes the same act among women ( Rom 1:26-27 ) However, I don't think this is the issue of Mr. Stones's post. The real issue is his desire to subvert the scripture with what men (he) wants to be...

Though the fig tree does not blossom

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 (KJV ) One way the enemy seeks to destroy us is to magnify our troubled experiences.  Circumstances may cause us to walk a mile, but it’s the enemy that put splinters in our feet alone that journey. Satan does not care how he weakens us, be it small or large, physical, emotional, or financial, as long as he can infect us with the disease of wrong thinking, as long as he can affect our experiences in such a way that it causes us to question God’s love for us, as long as he can take our joy which is our strength, Satan is happy in our suffering.  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy His (Satan's) intent is to destroy not just our physical and spiritual but also our emotional happiness as well. But happiness comes from what happens in our life, when we p...

Open Theism a God Who Takes Risks

Image
When I began to write about God’s omniscience, (all-knowing) I came across something very odd to me, it was a group of Christians which practice a set of tenets called  Open Theism . The Open Theist does not believe in several things that would otherwise be called normal Christian doctrine, but the issue here is specifically their view on God’s omniscience. For the Open Theist God is not all-knowing, He is “ somewhat ” knowing. In fact, they even go as far as to say things like “ God takes risks " as a gambler  or worst of all, that " God makes mistakes” . I’m not an apologist, however, the scripture clearly teaches God Omniscience. Psalm 33:13-15 tells us God consider the works of every individual.   1 Corinthians 4:5 tells there is no secret that God does not know, even the smallest of thing does not happen without God’s knowledge ( Matthew 10:29-30 ) The Bible is full of prophecy, which can only happen if God already knows it. In fact, some of th...

Praying the Promises of God

Image
Praying the promises of God is what we are so often told to do, but in reality most Christian are much too timid to even come to our Heavenly Father with anything but reverence to the Father’s Greatness. Now don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that we should not honor and have reverence for our Father, nor I’m saying come to the Father as if we were His “Running buddies” What I’m saying is that we should know how to boldly pray with arguments and supplications. For years we have been told to just pray, but I don’t remember even once anyone giving me instructions on what I should say, or even how I should present my request before the Father. No wonder we live in a world today where prayer is an afterthought even for the “devout” Christian. We have regulated prayer to nothing more than a last minute act of desperation to get something, anything to happen in our favor. Romans 12:12 (TNIV) tells us to: “ Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.” Thi...
