The Silent Voice

Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man
Proverbs 8:4(KJV)
Prayers in Pursuit of God
Part 7 of a 11
In the last installment of Prayers in the Pursuit of God, we addressed the reality that we are not seeking the presence of our Father at all, but it is He, our Father that is since the creation of man revealing Himself to us. Genesis 1:1-3 informs us that God created all there was by the power of His words. The Bible teaches otherwise: "By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth (Psalm 33:6) .... For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.(Psalm 33:9)" "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God."
Ancient Hebrews called the voice of God “Wisdom” and they believed that it is forever speaking searching throughout the whole earth for a response from the sons of man. Let us read again the passage of Proverbs 8 again for the first time.
Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man. O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things Proverbs 8:1-6 (KJV)
In this proverb we can perceive the silent voice of God as a beautiful woman stand on a high place speaking her voice to the four corners of the earth so that everyone can hear her. She cries out "Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of men." Then she pleads that we would give ear to her words. It is that silent still voice, the Wisdom of God, pleading and appealing to man for a response since the time of creation; a response that is seldom received, though continually sought; a voice of guidance instruction wisdom, a voice that can only prosper us, yet a voice that we have trained our ear to ignore.
When God spoke out of the heavens, self-centered men explained it as natural causes: they said, "It thundered." Our thoughts and actions are more attuned to the ways of science than God. We have difficulty when science contradicts the bible confessing God but believing man. For us even the Christian is is much easier to examine science than worship God.
But to those that would hear the silent voice of God, he falls down to his knees, at the sound of thunder and whispers as the boy Samuel “Speak, for thy servant heareth because he hears the voice of God calling him to worship to praise to, to do his will true worshiper hears the voice of God, speaking to him out of heaven, calling him closer and closer until he is able walk continually in the presence of God. The true worshiper does not pray or meditate, or sing hymns to get in the presence of God, he only has to listen to what the voice of wisdom has to say to him.

Let us Pray;
Oh Heavenly Father, teach me to listen to Your voice. The times are noisy and my ears are tired from the unpleasant and disturbing sounds which continuously assault them. Give me the spirit of the boy Samuel when he said to Thee, "Speak, for thy servant heareth." Let me hear You speaking in my heart. Let me get used to the sound of Your Voice in my ear. Make its tones be familiar, and comforting so that the sound of this world will not have dominion over them. I desire only to hear Your voice in Jesus Name Amen.
